Synopsis:
Pretear is about a girl named Himeno who lives with her father after her mother passed
away when she was very young. He re-married to another woman who then becomes Himeno's step-mother, who also has
two daughters. However, they both don't respect Himeno or care about her feelings very much. After getting re-married,
they all moved into a big mansion because of her step-mother's wealth and fame.
Everyone is now busy and spends little time together in the family, and even life at school isn't any better.
This leaves Himeno now feeling very lonely, and even often questioning her own existence.
Presently, Seven Leafe Knights are searching for Princess Pretear who is the only person who can save everything
from the monster worms who are gradually sucking Leafe from the Earth, which is the source of power for all life.
"Pretear" is a regular girl who can transform into the Pretear by touching one of the seven Knights' hands.
And with their spirits joined, they can both create a unique power which will be used to help them in fighting the evil
monster worms. To find Pretear, they must search quickly for the girl who will make a distinct reaction
when their hands touch,
before it's too late. Without her, the Earth will be sucked dry of life and end up dry, dark and dead.

Each episode in this series starts off with a prelude then goes into the opening theme, which blends everything nicely together. The great music and beautiful animation and special effects thrown in makes this show very enjoyable and memorable as well. Also the colors have a unique lightness to them and the backgrounds all have a watercolor look to it, that it adds a nice touch to the series.
The action scenes have an interesting concept where the Pretear can merge with another knight to get a different elemental power and costume. Not only that, but the attacks she receives would be given to the knight she is fused instead of herself. This puts a lot of pressure on the Pretear for her to train harder, cuz there are also the very young knights, who also have to sacrifice themselves to protect her. I really like the different age gaps of the knights and the diversity among them, it makes things much more interesting. You would expect them to be all adults for them to have such a dangerous task. And for the voice acting, I personally think the original Japanese seiyuu brings out the real essence and mood of the characters than the English dub does. The seiyuu cast did such a wonderful job, that you really connect with what is going on and the emotions they feel. I did actually cry near the end while watching this series, because it got so emotional and deep. (sidenote: Sakurai Takahiro does such a great job playing Sasame). This anime altogether is kind of similar to a fairytale, and can be enjoyed by anyone who appreciates them.
My Final Opinion: A very refreshing series with crisp animation, beautiful music, and a touching story. Something I really recommend you to check out if you're into Shoujo anime!
