Probably one of the MOST popular Gundam series to date. Ever since it was aired on tv, I was hooked to it and I didn't even know why, I wasn't even into Gundams at the time! But this show changed my whole perspective on mecha-based shows. For one thing, I actually liked the Gundams in this series and I still do, especially the main five, I even bought the model kits. They have such a unique design and they resemble the pilots who pilot them. The main character designs and the characters themselves are also very original and distinctive. The story and personality for each pilot is also very interesting. Each of the main characters also have a different origin, that it's rare to find a gundam series with this much youth and diversity in the main line-up, not to mention bishounen >_>.
The English dub is also surprisingly well done. I think the casting of the main characters couldn't be better and they brought out their personalities so well that I would actually recommend the dubbed version for this series. In fact, the English dubbing actually added extra humor to the series in certain scenes just by the way soem things were said, and I mean humor in a good way. The only thing about this series is that the animation can vary in quality from episode to episode. Sometimes it would be real detailed, then sometimes it might not be. But I don't blame them though, this show was made in 1995 after all. And some of the background music mgith be a little early 90's sounding, but it's tolerable. But other than that, the rest of the music and theme songs are very good, especially the opening theme, it is very catchy and will be an instant favorite.
This series is really worth watching, because you'll be hooked to the characters especially, the story, the gundams, and the whole feel of the show itself. They just don't make Gundam shows like this anymore. To miss this is to be missing one of the best Gundam series ever!
My Final Opinion: Definately a very popular and well-known show! Even if you're not a Gundam fan, something in this series should appeal to you, and you'll be hooked in no time!
